About Moneta Vista

Christine has led several complicated domestic and international acquisitions, as well as several challenging business strategies. She knows how to lead diverse teams to get results even for the most complicated and difficult projects. For one US company, Christine created a multi-year, multi-step growth strategy that grew a division of that company from two people in the UK to over 450 people in four years through a series of carefully calculated strategic moves. The assignment started out as a blank sheet of paper with only the instructions of "make something happen in the UK." The multi-step strategy included identifying a small $30M 100 person acquisition, and using that as a stepping stone to pursue new business opportunities and partnerships to create the 450 person division that now exists today. That division is still growing as a result of the strategic vision that was established four years earlier.

Having focused on private company business cases, the Moneta Vista team can value the tangible and intangible elements of synergy that can be achieved for a strategic buyer. They can help a seller get more for their company by being able to articulate the strategic value of the deal to the buyer.

Moneta Vista was founded by Christine M. Abato, who started her business development career at Lockheed Martin. She spent the last 10 years in Corporate Strategy and M&A. She holds two securities licenses: Series 62 (Corporate Securities), and Series 63 (Uniform Securities Agent State Law). Prior to Strategic Business Development, Christine led the new business win strategy for a successful $3B communication satellite program. Before that, she created a unique methodology for assessing a company's Core Competencies (provisional patent filed 9/03), where she analyzed the company's strengths and weaknesses relative to key success factors in the company's five market areas.

She spent the first fifteen years of her career in Science and Engineering. She supported fast-paced satellite programs on engineering issues working in a variety of roles including a hands-on launch on the Russian Proton rocket in Kazakhstan. She achieved a superior performance award for developing and delivering engineering training programs during a critical merger between Lockheed and Martin Marietta, training over 2100 employees in a very short time.

Christine started her career in solar physics and worked on solar physics instruments that have successfully flown (one had four successful flights on the Space Shuttle), or are still flying today collecting data on the sun's photosphere and coronasphere. She managed a solar telescope observatory in the Canary Islands, Spain for sunspot data collection.

Christine earned her Bachelor's degree in Physics from Binghamton University in New York with a specialty in optics and lasers, and an MBA from Santa Clara University in the heart of Silicon Valley focusing on International and Entrepreneurial business.

Chris has closed several deals on the buy side where she orchestrated all aspects of the deals:

  • Identified the targets from a strategy / market / growth perspective
  • Built the business cases, including identifying and valuing the synergies
  • Sold to upper management to pursue the deals
  • Surpassed a rigorous vetting process
  • Led inexperienced cross-functional teams through the due diligence process
  • Led the integration of the companies

Leveraging her market/strategy experience, she has the ability to identify the buyers who will benefit the most from your company and therefore pay the most for it.

Because Chris has both a physicist background, and business strategist mind, she has a remarkable ability to leverage these disciplines to deliver maximized results for a privately-held buyer or seller. She understands the value of technology relative to the competitive solutions and customer needs in a realistic way which then contributes to a more robust business case or valuation.

She was on the Lockheed Martin Corporate Lessons Learned team, and has evaluated dozens of deals that other Business Areas have done, and is able to incorporate that knowledge in her valuations.

Having led Integrations, she knows what works and doesn't work from a realistic execution perspective. This additional knowledge strengthens the validity of her business cases beyond the textbook mechanics of doing valuations.

She has a strong and relevant Rolodex in the US and UK Aerospace and Defense industry as well as across technology companies in Silicon Valley. She knows the key Corporate Business Development and Chief Strategy Officers across a wide range of companies, and has a deep knowledge of the market dynamics, competitors and supply chain.
